Beetroot Juice Supplementation

Studies have found another beneficial natural supplement to lower blood pressure, beetroot juice.  This works in a similar fashion to the L-arginine supplement, meaning its benefits are realized through the nitric oxide production in our blood cells.  Nitric oxide opens the blood vessels allowing for blood to more easily pass through.  Beetroot juice is high in nitrates, which are metabolized in the body to create nitric oxide.  More nitrate intake equals more nitric oxide creation.

One study, found a trend that beetroot juice lowered systolic blood pressure a mere 6 hours after first supplementation.  That was also in healthy adults with a normal diet.  It reasonable to suggest that if you have diet deficiencies, the effect might be even more significant. No studies have been done regarding the following, but using an L-arginine supplement coupled with beetroot juice might be a strong alternative to prescription medication for high blood pressure.
