Building muscle and getting the greatest amount of results from exercise is more popular now than ever. Companies provide slightly different ingredients per supplement, depending on the results you’re seeking.

One ingredient most muscle gaining supplements include is l-arginine. Building muscle with l-arginine is not only effective, it is safe as well.

Building Muscle with L-Arginine

L-arginine is an amino acid that is the precursor to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps to enlarge blood vessels and increase blood flow throughout the body.

Though often used in supplements to lower blood pressure, increase sexual endurance, and help raise energy levels, building muscle with l-arginine is another great use.

Because nitric oxide increases the amount of blood flow, muscles are fed extra nutrients and oxygen to keep them going for a longer period of time. That means more time lifting weights and gaining muscle mass.

Endurance and energy levels are peaked and extra reps can get done. That fatigue will not set in as quickly with l-arginine supplements.

A recent study done by the University of Exeter reported their findings that nitric oxide (created by l-arginine) can improve exercise endurance and efficiency.

Study

Their research showed that “..dietary NO3 supplementation may represent a practical and cost effective method to improve exercise efficiency and exercise tolerance in humans.” This means that supplements that increase the amount of nitric oxide is beneficial to weight lifting and exercise results.

Muscle tissues break down and rebuild during and after a workout, which creates soreness and difficulty using specific muscles. L-arginine allows for quicker recovery periods in between workouts, letting you start the next session even faster and harder.

Another study done in 2010 at UCLA examined the effects of l-arginine on 16 male cyclists who were ages 50 to 73. The participants who took l-arginine supplements in powder form experienced a 16.7% increase in their anaerobic performance. The participants that took a placebo did not show any anaerobic increase.

Though weight lifting doesn’t take as much anaerobic energy as cycling, if you are doing a hard workout with heavy weights, you will sweat and breathe heavily. Being able to increase that ability can help to increase muscle mass by performing with higher energy for longer.

On top of those findings, l-arginine also helps to create that “pump” that all bodybuilders love. Building muscle with l-arginine can get your muscles feeling larger and fuller than before.

If you’re needing a boost and change in your workout, l-arginine supplements may be the best option for you.
L-Arginine Plus contains over 5,000 mg of l-arginine and other added ingredients to be sure that you get the best quality product and the best results you can.
