World Hypertension Day

May 17th, 2016 is World Hypertension Day to raise awareness about high blood pressure. With high blood pressure being the number one cause of deaths globally, the International Society of Hypertension has put forth the effort to raise awareness through their subdivision World Hypertension League (WHL).

This year WHL has the goal of screening 3 million adults between the dates of May 17-24 so that they can get a better database of the world’s blood pressure and to help people realize the risk of high blood pressure.

If you would like to get involved, check out the ISH website and fill out a form to apply for a screening. It will not only help you but people across the globe who may not have education on high blood pressure, as well as research to help lower blood pressure.

A good, healthy diet and regular exercise are two key components to reducing blood pressure and maintaining healthy levels. If you are struggling to reduce blood pressure, talk with your doctor about the best solutions for you.
