There have been more blood pressure medications recalled, according to the FDA. Find out which medications they’re recalling and why.

If you’re currently taking high blood pressure (hypertension) medications, you may need to consult your doctor. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall on October 14, 2021, for two Lupin Pharmaceuticals medications.

The medications in question are Irbesartan tablets and Irbesartan and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets, medications that treat high blood pressure. Moreover, Lupin Pharmaceuticals is voluntarily recalling them because certain batches may have unsafe amounts of N-nitrosoirbesartan, a probably human carcinogen.

While there are no current reports of illness, Lupin Pharmaceuticals are issuing the recall as a precaution. Currently, their assessment shows that “certain tested API batches (but not finished product batches) were above the specification limit for the impurity,”
